As an artist and designer, Paula is passionate about creating new and inspiring environments that make the most of different materials and technologies in a creative way. This drive led her to found Cadmium Design just over 11 years ago and she has been hands on in every project that the practice has delivered.
Her love of exploring different mediums through both art and sculpture feeds directly into the projects that are carried out at Cadmium Design. ‘The impossible becomes possible in a cost effective way’ and all this drives the ultimate goal of making businesses stand out from the crowd and be commercially effective in these challenging times. The potential in art is limitless, yet has a very sensible structure or ‘set of rules’ that shapes and ensures successful results, whatever the angle that you approach a design.
Paula is at the forefront of what is shaping the leisure industry which is going through a very dynamic, yet exciting time. Legislation and opportunities, along with technologies and customer expectations means that you have to be ahead of the game to succeed. This is fed by what is happening across the board and in all walks of life.
Steve is vastly experienced leader in the construction industry across the Retail, Leisure and Hotels sectors, both as a client and within architectural practice.
A former Managing Partner at Lewis & Hickey Architects, working with blue chip retail clients such as M&S, Bhs, Gap & Debenhams, Steve switched to the client side as Director of European Development for Hard Rock Cafe, responsible for the design and construction of a number of new Corporate cafes across Europe as well as a new Hard Rock Hotel In Madrid that is now branded as an ME by Melia for Melia Hotels International.
The hotel experience led to a spell as Project Director EMEA for Marriott Hotels International based in their London Office.
Prior to joining Cadmium Steve went back to his roots to work for the John Lewis Partnership, initially as a Development Construction Manager delivering the Partnership’s first ‘at home’ small format store in Poole before moving to the role of General Manager Feasibility Development, leading the internal team of architects and project managers at the feasibility stage for new Department Stores and the roll out of new format opportunities.
At Cadmium Steve, as well as managing the business also leads the design and implementation process, from feasibility to completion, on a variety of new build and refurbishment projects for The Rank Group.
